Gemini is getting a new home screen similar to ChatGPT!
I've been following Google's Gemini for a while now, and it seems like they're constantly tweaking its look and feel. One change that caught my eye is the revamped home screen, which looks suspiciously similar to ChatGPT's interface. It appears Google is testing a layout with big, prominent shortcut buttons right in the middle of the screen. Currently, these shortcuts live in the input box at the bottom, but it seems they want to make them more accessible.
Beyond just moving buttons around, Google is also experimenting with quick prompts tailored to your usage history. I imagine these suggestions popping up, almost like Gemini is reading my mind and anticipating what I want to ask next. However, since it is still a test, I don't know if this feature will be kept or changed.
And there's more! I noticed they're also cleaning up the interface for apps linked with Gemini, aiming for a less cluttered look. I feel like this focus on simplicity and ease of use is crucial for making AI assistants more approachable for everyone. It is like when you enter a room and it's very cluttered, so you feel overwhelmed, that's what Google doesn't want.
I think these changes could make Gemini much more user-friendly, especially for those who are new to AI assistants. The suggestions would be really handy. Of course, it's still in testing, so we'll have to wait and see what Google ultimately decides to roll out. But I am excited to see what comes next!
