Wow! Sony surprises everyone, delivers stable Android 16 for Xperia 1 VII before rivals.
It seems like Sony's been stepping up their game lately. I always thought they were a bit slow with updates, but they've just rolled out the stable Android 16 update for the Xperia 1 VII. That's quite a feat, especially since they've beaten out some big names like Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi!
Users over at Reddit have been reporting that their devices are indeed receiving the update, which clocks in at around 1.1GB. The version number is 71.1.A.2.68, for those who are curious. It's a bit of a shame Sony hasn't released a detailed changelog, but hey, at least the update is here!
I'm really hoping this is a sign that Sony's committed to faster updates across its entire range of phones. It'd be great to see older flagships and even mid-range devices getting Android 16 sooner rather than later. Especially after Sony promised four major OS updates and six years of security patches for the Xperia 1 VII. Let's hope they stick to their word and set a new standard for Android updates!
