Samsung's Galaxy XR: Launch Soon, Maybe at the Next Unpacked

Mobile Technology

Remember Project Moohan? If not, don't worry, you're not alone. After a burst of initial buzz, things went quiet on Samsung's new XR headset front. I almost forgot about it myself! However, according to recent reports, it looks like we won't have to wait much longer.

News from South Korea suggests that Samsung is preparing to unveil Project Moohan, expected to be rebranded as the Galaxy XR, at their next Galaxy Unpacked event, supposedly scheduled for September 29, 2025. This isn't the first time we've heard this date, lending credibility to the rumor. Apparently, the initial launch will be in South Korea on October 13, 2025, with a gradual rollout to other markets afterward. If this is true, I can't wait to see it!

As for the price, expect a range between 2.5 and 4 million KRW, which translates to roughly $1,800 to $2,000. That’s a hefty price tag, for sure. However, it positions the Galaxy XR as a more "affordable" alternative to Apple's Vision Pro, which sells for $3,500. It seems Samsung is aiming for a smaller initial shipment of around 100,000 units this year, compared to Apple's 224,000 Vision Pro units shipped last year. With a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 SoC and 16GB of RAM, it's shaping up to be a serious contender in the XR space. I'm eager to learn more as we get closer to the potential launch date. It seems a solid piece of technology!
