OPPO Find X9 Pro: Leaks Suggest a 200MP Telephoto Upgrade

Mobile Technology

The race for camera supremacy in the Android world is showing no signs of slowing down. I think it's pretty clear that manufacturers are constantly pushing the boundaries, and megapixel counts are a key battleground. Now, it looks like OPPO is gearing up to join the 200MP telephoto club with its upcoming Find X9 Pro.

If you remember, Samsung has already embraced 200MP sensors for the main cameras in its flagship devices, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Vivo, on the other hand, decided to use it for its telephoto lens. And now, leaks suggest OPPO is about to do the same.

According to a post by OPPO's Find series Product Manager, Zhou Yibao, on Weibo, the Find X9 Pro will sport a 200MP sensor for its telephoto camera. Considering the Find X8 Pro had two telephoto lenses, this could mean OPPO is streamlining its camera setup. There are rumors about a detachable zoom lens for the Find X9 series. So, this change might be related to that.

It seems this 200MP camera will offer improved light sensitivity and better cropping capabilities. That's a pretty sweet deal if you ask me. Plus, OPPO is continuing its partnership with Hasselblad to refine the color science in its phone cameras. OnePlus, OPPO's sub-brand, might be going in a different direction with its own "LUMO" Super Pixel Engine algorithm.

However, according to Liu Zuohu, the product head for both OPPO and OnePlus, the Find X9 series will offer both Hasselblad and LUMO imaging solutions. How that will work is unclear. I mean, are we talking about different sensors or a user-switchable option? Only time will tell.

Besides the 200MP camera, the Find X9 Pro is also confirmed to feature OPPO's Danxia True Color lenses. These lenses should ensure consistent colors across all cameras, regardless of the sensor or focal length. So, you can say goodbye to color discrepancies. As for other specs, rumors suggest a 7,550mAh battery and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. The phone may launch globally on October 28th.

I'm also hearing that the Find X9 series will be the first to feature OPPO's ColorOS 16, based on Android 16. So, it looks like we're in for a treat!
