I've been following the foldable phone scene pretty closely, and recently heard some news that made me raise an eyebrow. According to a reliable source, it seems like OnePlus might be pulling the plug on the OnePlus Open 2. This is a bit of a bummer, considering the original OnePlus Open made a splash as their first foldable device.

Now, the OnePlus Open was essentially a rebranded OPPO Find N3. Because of this, the expectation was that the OnePlus Open 2 would follow suit, likely based on the rumored OPPO Find N6. The OPPO Find N6 is rumored to have some serious hardware, like a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and a massive battery. Not to mention some impressive camera specs, including a potential 200MP main camera.

What makes this news even more interesting is that 2026 is expected to be a big year for foldables. We're anticipating Apple to finally jump into the game with a foldable iPhone, and other brands are also rumored to be launching wider, book-style foldables to compete. Motorola is also slated to release the Razr Fold later this year. Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold might be hitting the US market soon too.

Adding another layer to this story, the source also suggests there's a high chance the OnePlus 15s – which would be called the OnePlus 15T in China – might also be canceled. This phone was supposed to be a compact powerhouse, boasting a high refresh rate screen, a huge battery, and a capable telephoto camera. If this cancellation goes through, it means we could miss out on a really interesting pocket-friendly device.

If these rumors are true, it begs the question: what's OnePlus's strategy? Are they rethinking their approach to foldables and compact phones? It's a rapidly evolving market, and maybe they're waiting for the right moment to strike with something truly innovative. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
