Nothing OS 4.0: Android 16 update brings a cleaner UI and AI enhancements
While some companies are still trying to catch up, Samsung has already released a stable Android 16 update for its devices. However, Nothing is also on the move, giving us a sneak peek at its upcoming Nothing OS 4.0, which is based on Android 16. I've been keeping an eye on this, and I'm eager to see what they've been working on!
It looks like Nothing is focusing on a more consistent design throughout the user interface. They're talking about standardized elements and cleaner quick settings, which should make the whole experience more intuitive. If you ask me, that sounds like a great improvement.
We can expect new fonts and styles for the lock screen clock. Also, Nothing OS 4.0 introduces an Extra Dark mode and floating icons, similar to Android's accessibility controls. Always On Display and brightness sliders will be optimized. Nothing is also improving the Camera and Gallery apps, promising a smarter Gallery with AI-powered features.
Speaking of AI, Nothing is adding an AI dashboard to keep you informed about tasks using large language models on your phone. The company might even start charging users for its built-in AI applications.
Unfortunately, if you own a Nothing Phone (1), this update won't be available for you since it has already reached end-of-life. However, the company has some plans for its owners, which is nice to hear. Although there's no official release date, one of the mock screens displays October 25, so it's possible we might see something around that time.
