iPhone 17 vs Pixel 10: Is Google's Flagship Already in Trouble?
Apple's recent iPhone 17 launch has definitely stirred the pot in the mobile world. I mean, while it might look almost the same as the previous model, the upgrades under the hood are pretty impressive. The fact that the base iPhone 17 now boasts a 120Hz display, an improved selfie camera, and a potentially blazing-fast A19 chip is quite a leap. What really got my attention was Apple doubling the storage to 256GB while keeping the price at $799. That's something you don't see every day!
This news comes just a month after Google unveiled the Pixel 10, which is supposed to be a direct competitor to the iPhone 17. From what I've heard, the Pixel 10 made a strong impression, with some even calling it Google's best phone yet. However, I wonder if the iPhone 17's arrival has already thrown a wrench in Google's plans? The comments I've seen online seem to point in that direction, with many suggesting that Apple might have surpassed Google this year.
Some users on Reddit are saying that they'd switch to iPhone for the better hardware and value if it wasn't for their preference for Android. Others are calling the base iPhone 17 a "superb device" that outshines the Pixel 10, especially considering the price. Some comments even suggest that the value proposition of the base iPhone is "embarrassingly better" than the Pixel, particularly outside of North America. It seems like people are expecting Google to seriously step up their game with the next Pixel iteration.
Beyond the specs mentioned earlier, people are also pointing out that the iPhone 17 has a more advanced display and is noticeably lighter and thinner than the Pixel 10. When you consider all these factors, it's difficult to deny that Apple has delivered a compelling package with the iPhone 17. For example, I found myself wondering if Google had missed a beat with the Pixel 10's hardware.
However, I wouldn't go as far as saying the iPhone 17 completely overshadows the Pixel 10. While it excels in certain areas, I still lean towards the Pixel 10 for a few key reasons. For one, I value having a dedicated telephoto camera. Also, I prefer using Google's AI assistant, Gemini, over Siri, which is a big deal for me. Not only that, but I think Android 16 combined with the Material 3 design is much better than iOS 26. And let's not forget Google's exclusive Pixel features, which make the phone experience unlike any other.
So, what do you think? Did Apple's iPhone 17 steal the Pixel 10's thunder? Or does Google's latest flagship still hold its ground? I'm curious to hear your thoughts!
