iOS 26: Store Physical Card Details Securely in Wallet App
So, Apple's planning something pretty neat for iOS 26. I think you'll appreciate this if you're anything like me – always scrambling to find that one physical card with the details you need.
Apparently, they're adding a feature to the Wallet app that lets you store the info from your physical cards right alongside your digital ones. It's like having all your card details in one secure place.
Think about it: no more fumbling through your wallet to find the expiry date for that subscription service or trying to remember your account number when you're on the phone. I can't tell you how many times I've had to do that! It also means you won't have to dig into your settings to find Autofill information.
Now, some might say, "Hey, I already use 1Password for that." And that's fair. But having it integrated directly into the Wallet app? That's just convenient. It definitely makes the Wallet app a more complete tool for managing your cards.
How does it work? Well, you just add the card manually. iOS 26 will encrypt the info and store it securely in your iCloud Keychain. Apple ensures that only you can access these details, protected behind Face ID or your passcode.
It's worth noting that this feature is part of iOS 26, which is still in beta. However, Apple plans to launch a public release in September. I'm really looking forward to this feature. It's small, but it has the potential to make a big difference in how I manage my finances on the go.
