Galaxy Z Fold 7 Leaks Point to Slimmer Design, Larger Camera Bump
Whispers within the tech community suggest that Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and alleged leaked promotional materials hint at a sleeker design. According to a Reddit user, a snapshot of Samsung's promo content reveals a potentially thinner profile for the upcoming foldable device. The image showcases the phone partially open, highlighting halves that appear noticeably slimmer than its predecessor, the Fold 6.
While the foldable is expected to retain its rounded corners, the hinge design could be a key area of improvement. It is speculated that the hinge has been refined, potentially allowing the displays to sit closer together when folded, minimizing the gap that is typically present in foldable devices. This could lead to a more seamless and aesthetically pleasing experience.
A Bigger Camera Bump?
However, another leak suggests a possible trade-off for the thinner design. Based on a separate Reddit post featuring a leaked Thinborne case for the Fold 7, the camera bump seems to protrude significantly from the back of the device. While the angled top view appears normal, the side view reveals a rather prominent camera island.
Adding to the intrigue, older leaks have shown that the Fold 7 will feature a triple camera array positioned on an elevated island. While this design choice may offer enhanced protection for the lenses, the overall thickness of the camera bump raises concerns. As the original poster of the leaked case notes, "The thickness of the camera bump is almost just as thick as the phone itself (in folded mode)."
More recently, images surfaced online showing what is claimed to be an early sample of the Fold 7, revealing the triple camera setup with black rings similar to the Galaxy S25. While the exact size of the camera island remained unclear at the time, the latest leaked render provides a clearer picture of what to expect.
Furthermore, rumors point towards a significant upgrade to the camera system, with speculation that the Fold 7 could feature a massive 200MP sensor, a departure from the 50MP sensor found in previous models. This substantial increase in sensor size could be a contributing factor to the larger camera bump, as the physical dimensions of the sensor and lens assembly would naturally increase.
As Samsung prepares to unveil its latest foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, these early leaks offer a glimpse into what we can expect. While the promise of a thinner design and upgraded camera capabilities is certainly exciting, the potential for a larger camera bump is a consideration that users will need to weigh when deciding whether to upgrade. For now, all eyes remain on Samsung as the official launch date approaches.
