Galaxy S25 Gets Stable One UI 8 Update: What You Need to Know
After what seemed like an eternity of beta testing, Samsung's finally pushing out the stable version of One UI 8, built on Android 16, to its Galaxy S25 lineup. It feels like just yesterday we were diving into the early versions, and now it's here for everyone – or at least, it's starting to be.
The initial release, spotted by Tarun Vats, is a hefty 3.8GB download. It comes with the version number S938NKSU5BYI3/S938NOKR5BYI3/S938NKSU5BYI3, which varies depending on where you are. Right now, it's hitting users in South Korea first, but I expect it'll spread to the US, UK, India, and everywhere else before long.
Included in this update is the September 1, 2025 security patch. One UI 8 brings a host of changes and improvements. For example, I'm intrigued by features like automatic call captioning, which could be a game-changer for accessibility. It also includes the Now Brief functionality.
More Devices Soon?
Before this, you could only get stable One UI 8 on the latest foldables, like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7 series. It seemed a bit crazy to think people would buy a whole new phone just to get the newest software! Samsung hasn't officially said which other devices will get the update in September, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a broad rollout. Hopefully, older Galaxy S series and Note devices will get a taste of Android 16 soon. What about you?
Plus, they've promised that One UI 8 Watch will be available on more than just the Galaxy Watch 8 series later this year. I´m looking forward for those news.
