ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra Gears Up with Android 16 Beta

Mobile

Great news for ASUS fans! It looks like the company is diving headfirst into the future, as they've just announced the Android 16 beta program for their newest top-tier phone, the Zenfone 12 Ultra.

If you're the adventurous type and own this particular model, you can easily sign up for the beta program. Simply head to your phone’s settings, find the system update section, and look for the option to enroll in the Android preview program. Keep in mind that you'll need an ASUS account and will have to fill out an application form. It's fairly straightforward, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting through it.

Now, here's a word of caution: once you jump into the Android 16 beta, there's no turning back easily. ASUS has made it clear that there isn't an official way to revert to Android 15 without completely wiping your phone. That means if you encounter any bugs or stability issues, you'll have to ride them out until the final, stable version of Android 16 is released. So, make sure you're comfortable with potential hiccups before taking the plunge!

One thing that's still a bit of a mystery is what kind of unique features ASUS is adding on top of the base Android experience. Given their history, it's likely that there won't be a huge number of changes. ASUS tends to keep its user interface relatively clean and close to the stock Android look and feel, focusing on smaller additions such as customization options for the lock screen and always-on display.

It's worth noting that ASUS's other smartphone line, the ROG Phone, usually gets Android beta programs a bit later than the Zenfone series, since it runs a different user interface tailored for gaming.
